Dennis Brown's Hallowed Ground

Dennis Brown's Hallowed Ground Series figurines are spooky creations created with Dennis's light hearted style and love for magic. These creations are especially desired around the Fall, particularly around Halloween.

“Pumpkin Heads”

Dennis Brown PumpkinheadPumpkin Heads over see the garden in the evening ours before the fairies come out. Its not likely you’ll ever see one, but rest assured they are there(only in the Fall). They are indeed the price of Halloween. Looked up to and respected by all imaginary characters that come to life at the festive time of the year.

Providing a twinkling of light for the fairies to see by, as they arrive in the garden for the evening. It is not known where they are the rest of the time. As an artist I enjoy the child like innocents of these guys and the personality they bring to Halloween. I do believe that the pumpkin provided a magic element to the fall season each one projecting his own character and personality. No two will ever be alike

“Jack –O –Lantern”

dennis-brown-jack-o-lanter-figurineAs summer departs and fall is ushered in by the first frost, the first sign of the of the first holiday is the pumpkin magically appearing in gardens around the globe. Inspiring us to switch gears from the rushing around during the summer, slowly putting away summer clothes and bringing out the warmer clothes of the last 3 months of the year.

Halloween is often misunderstood and should not be separated from the festive innocents that it is… Like anything else in this world, keep it simple and don’t dwell on the negative.

As a child, Halloween was simple and unassuming, we would roam the neighborhood in search of sweet treasures, popcorn balls, candied apples and homemade cookies and periodically  fresh orange (growing up in South California, everyone had an orange tree.) We had no fears and no worries, it was a pure and simple and provides memories that no generation will ever experience again. Halloween has survived many years and should continue to be enjoyed for what it is.

Take time to reflect back to that time as a young child and keep that simple spirit alive for years to come.
